Killed In Action
On 26 November 1942, Franklin Arnold Jaspers was killed in action during the Buna Campaign in New Guinea in the South Pacific. He was called into service 3 January 1942 and served with 126th Infantry 32nd Division Company K. He was re-buried in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery on 13 July 1948. The Wellsburg Legion was renamed Ashing-Jaspers Post No. 213 in memory of Mr. Jaspers who was the first local boy to die in service during World War II.
